Designing Your Life: Using Design Thinking to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Professional and Personal Life

Designing Your Life: Using Design Thinking to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Professional and Personal Life

Registration is closed

Event Overview
Are you still trying to figure out how your career and life fit together? Design Thinking is now being used in everything from the way we present information on our websites to how we design classes to how we handle service delivery in our universities. That said, why not look at how these concepts might apply to our personal lives as well.

Building off the design thinking framework utilized at Stanford University’s Design School (d-school) and the book Designing Your Life (DYL), you will adopt a designer’s mindset and apply design thinking when – contemplating, planning for, iterating, and taking action – to create a meaningful and fulfilling professional and personal life. This mindset includes adopting concepts such as radical collaboration, reframing problems, curiosity, mindfulness of process, and a bias towards action paving your way to the well-lived, joyful life that you so richly deserve. You will leave with a better understanding of where you are right now, new designs for balance and energy, ways to frame problems you’ve been trying to solve for a while, insights on how to hone your decision making, and three options for five-year plans for your life.

Objectives:
  - Explore meaning in work and life to increase workplace satisfaction.
  - Identify resonant experiences to guide growth and progression in your current role and in your career.
  - Design the balance and energy needed to fuel life and work and reduce burnout and stress.
