Event Overview
Many of us are dealing with replacing aging analog phone systems or looking to upgrade early VOIP systems with tight budgets that are the reality in today's fiscal environment.  Two alternative solutions to the traditional big vendor phone systems will be presented that can provide equivalent/extended features sets, reduced overall expenses, and easier internal manageability.

The day will be split into three sections.  Siena College will discuss the advantages and implementation of their open source FreePBX VOIP deployment.  Microsoft will provide a technical overview of Skype for Business (previously called Lync) as a Unified Communications Platform and a traditional PBX replacement.  There will be time for an open conversation among NERCOMP peers to discuss many topics including, various telephone system implementations, lessons learned, pros and cons.

Session Outcomes:
- High level understanding of FreePBX
- High level understanding of Skype for Business as a PBX replacement
- Discussion and networking between NERCOMP members responsible for telephone technology
