Event Overview
New learning theories and technological developments are upsetting the status quo of higher education. To remain relevant in this environment, Academic Technology teams must balance providing existing services with limited resources, while exploring emerging technologies and forward thinking ideas. Such challenges raise difficult questions: How to transition from reactive to proactive practices, service to strategic vision?

In this workshop, we will discuss and model our process of prioritizing services and re-assign staff responsibilities based on CIS’ tactical goals in support of Brown University's strategic vision. We will lead a series of hands-on activities where attendees will apply our process of discovery to help define your role and mission, at your respective institutions.

Join us as an institutional team or come alone and benefit from cross institutional collaboration. The activities are designed to allow teams to complete some portion of the process and begin to develop your own tools. We will provide templates and completed frameworks developed at Brown for participants to take back to your respective institutions.

Session Outcomes:
- Better understand/articulate the implications of your institution’s strategic vision to your team’s tactical strategies.
- Redefine roles and priorities in response to technological and pedagogical change.
- Retrofit Brown University's reflexive process and tools to your own institutional culture and strategic goals.
