Event Overview
Due to the global crisis imposed by the pandemic, increases in stress and burnout, as well as associated reductions in health and morale, are nearly inevitable.  As a result, developing skills that promote self-reflection, self-regulation and self-compassion are paramount.  Training in attention and awareness, or mindfulness, can assist in this purpose by promoting an understanding of ourselves as well as increasing our curiosity about others.  Stemming from the collective trauma we have experienced, the need to consider our relationships with ourselves and others through a trauma-informed lens is critical.  By utilizing a trauma-informed lens, mindfulness-based skill-building is enhanced in several ways.  This approach includes:  realizing the prevalence of trauma, recognizing the symptoms of trauma, using invitational language and offering choice with all practices, working with the body skillfully, and attending to relationships (Treleaven, 2017).  Ultimately, trauma-informed practice and engagement create an orientation to interact with others in a safe, inviting, and effective way for all individuals.  In this session, we will explore these ideas by deepening our understanding of trauma as well as by participating in several practices that promote cultivating attention, bodily awareness, and compassion.

Note: These sessions will not be recorded. In order to be able to prioritize group connection and experience; participants will have the option to turn cameras and microphones on during the sessions.
