Day 1: Monday, July 9

8:00-8:30am – Registration
• 8:30-10am – Launch and Introductions / Framing for the Day
• 10-11:30 - Immunity to Change Reflective Learning Activity Part I: Individual Improvements and the Commitments that Hold Us Back
• 11:30-12:30 – Lunch
• 12:30-2:00 – Learning and the Brain keynote. Unlock the learning process with Chris Jernstedt, cognitive scientist from Dartmouth College. Chris’s work on the learning process has been featured in such diverse outlets as the Discovery Channel Canada, Wired Magazine, and The New York Times.
• 2:00-2:30 – Break – walk around the lake, think by yourself in a corner, huddle with a colleague, write a blog post….
• 2:00-2:30 – (Optional Fun Activity) Being Musical with Colleen, Blob Tag with Gina, Crazy Thoughts with Dave (or similar…)
• 2:30-3:30 – Immunity to Change Reflective Learning Activity Part 2: Workplace Improvements and the Commitments that Hold Them Back
• 3:30-3:45 - Fieldwork Journal Reflection and Discussion
• 3:45-4:30 – Wrap-up for Day 1
• 5:00-5:30 – Reception
• 5:30-7:00 – LOA Luau - Dinner

Day 2: Tuesday, July 10

• 8:00-8:30 – Informal Gathering and Refreshments
• 8:30-9am – Recap of Day 1 and Framing for Day 2
• 9-10:30 – Learning for Performance keynote. Bill Snyder, a leading consultant and writer in the field of organization theory, believes that great learning communities need great performance goals.
• 10:30-11:00 – Break – walk around the lake, think by yourself in a corner, huddle with a colleague, write a blog post….
• 10:30-11:00 – (Optional Fun Activity) Being Musical with Colleen, Tai Chi Walking with Gina, Crazy Thoughts with Dave (or similar)
• 11:00-12:00 – Fieldwork Journal Reflection and Discussion (Joy)
• 12-1:30 – Lunch
• 1:30-3:00 – Social Learning keynote. Unblock your team’s creativity with Marcia Conner, blogger for FastCompany, consultant to some of the largest companies in the world, and author of three books including The New Social Learning. Marcia will show why social learning is a key element of organizational change.
• 3:00-3:30 Break:

Day 3: Wednesday, July 11

• 8:30-9am – Recap of Day 2 and Framing for Day 3
• 9-10:30 – Learning in Real Time keynote. Think like a commander with Dr. Jim Martin, Dean of U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Jim will focus on the Army’s new doctrine of “Full Spectrum Learning,” intended to create new informal ways, across institutions, to support learning amidst the on-the-job complexities faced by soldiers. He will teach you to think in real time by sharing practical advice for decision-making in times of stress and rapid change.

• 11:00-12:00 – Fieldwork Journal Reflection and Discussion (Integration)
• 12-1:30 – Lunch

• 1:30-3:00 – Project Teams Meet with Coaches and Plan the Work Ahead
• 3:00-4:00 – LOA Institute Wrap-up and Look Ahead
