This SIG will focus on empowering users in academic communities to use WordPress in support of teaching, learning and research. WordPress is a powerful open-source digital publishing platform. Its customizability and extensibility have made it an increasingly popular choice for faculty, administrators and students needing simple static sites, blogs or CMS’s. The do-it-yourself toolkit and spirit that permeates WordPress enables communities of learners to come together.
SIG attendees will learn best practices from a variety of experts deploying WordPress in their classes and in their academic communities. New users of WordPress will come away with a general sense of the flexibility and utility of WordPress. Experienced users will develop a deeper resource pool and a broader network for troubleshooting and problem-solving. Faculty and instructional designers will be exposed to a plethora of ways in which WordPress can enhance teaching, learning and research.
