The Katie Vale Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a woman attending the NERCOMP Annual Conference who demonstrates a passion for the role of technology in higher education and embodies the characteristics of an emerging leader. The recipient will come from a NERCOMP member institution. The scholarship memorializes Katie, who had a great passion for the role of technology and its ability to transform learning and the essential functions of the institution. It honors her commitment to mentorship and professional development of women in the technology-related fields of academics, information technology, and libraries.
The scholarship is for up to $1,500 and includes registration for the NERCOMP Annual Conference and pre-conference seminar as well as lodging and travel expenses. The recipient will be recognized at the NERCOMP Annual Conference and will have the opportunity to network with member institution leaders.
NERCOMP is pleased to announce Shauna'h Fuegen as the recipient of this year’s Katie Vale Memorial Scholarship. We received responses from many women who were passionate about their jobs and information technology.
The selection committee had the very challenging task of selecting only one out of all the highly deserving individuals. Shauna'h exemplifies the spirit of this scholarship in Katie's name and shares her many educational technology goals, including mentorship of women in information technology, and possess emerging leadership skills.
We are so pleased that, in only two years, this has already become a sought after recognition. We look forward to offering it for years to come and recognize all of the nominees for their exceptional contributions to the field.
Applications for the 2020 Scholarship will be accepted starting in December 2019.
