Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time Administrative Faculty Trainee within the Client Support Services Team in the Information Technology Department. This is a training/entry level position whose incumbents participate in a formal development program designed to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to qualify for appointment for a designated Administrative Faculty position assigned to a higher administrative rank.

Position Profile

The successful candidate will participate in a formal development program designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to qualify for appointment and advancement to a Technical Support Assistant position. They will perform and/or learn a variety of increasingly difficult duties as skills are acquired during the training period of the designated function. They may provide basic direction to Student Workers and/or Cooperative Educational Interns. They will provide technical support and assistance to faculty, staff, and students. This will include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving technical problems and helping clients with their IT related questions. They may also assist with supporting technology in classrooms, maintain computer inventories and/or assist with configuring, deploying, and updating operating systems and software applications. They may also collect, analyze, and maintain data, databases and other record keeping. They may lead special projects.

Incumbents may be required to work on campus including evenings and weekends as necessary.

The Administrative Faculty Trainee is compensated at the Administrator I salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement. Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a related area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Considerable ability to use appropriate equipment, computerized systems, platforms, and software; Considerable interpersonal skills; Considerable oral and written communication skills; Considerable ability to collect, analyze and prepare data; Considerable ability to prepare reports and other materials.

These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.

Ideal Candidate

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

Familiarity with call tracking software, inventory control practices, installing computer hardware and/or software.
Professional information technology experience supporting networked microcomputers such as laptops and desktops (both Mac and PC), mobile phones, notebooks, workstations, and embedded systems at a college or university.
