Join us and apply your software architecture, data analytics, and creativity to help advance the future of education, research, and patient care at Yale University! Yale is a global research university that proudly focuses on students and has inspired the minds that inspire the world for more than 320 years. Yale promotes creativity, leadership, service, and innovation across disciplines globally. Rooted in its hometown of New Haven, Yale enrolls more than 15,000 students annually in its undergraduate college, graduate school, and professional schools. Yale is a global leader in biomedical research, ranking among the top ten universities for NIH funding.

Reporting to the Health Sciences Chief Information Officer as a member of the Health Sciences Information Services leadership team, the Director of Health Software Solutions & Engineering is a senior technical professional and thought leader responsible for overseeing the software and analytics strategy and support for the research, teaching and learning, and patient care missions and administration services of the health sciences campus, which includes the schools of medicine, public health, nursing, and Yale Health. The incumbent will provide technical stewardship and strategic leadership for teams that are actively engaged in software selection, custom development, data integration, reporting, and analytics. The Director of Health Software Solutions & Engineering will lead the vision for the future direction of the health sciences software application portfolio, including design, data integration, development methodologies, vendor management for licensed solutions and tools, application life cycles, and support models. Monitoring emerging trends, the Director will determine the areas of focus for skills development and software investments to match mission and business capabilities.

The Director will lead teams of developers, analysts, and project managers for custom software, database, analytics, and low-code environments for small to enterprise-wide administrative, clinical, research, and patient care applications. The Director will represent the department in technical and planning discussions with senior leadership across the university and the university's clinical partner, Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS). The Director will establish relationships with peer institutions to share knowledge and experiences.

This role will partner with the colleagues we support to develop a vision and overarching strategy for realizing the vision, requiring someone who can lead and inspire teams to effect change, actively promoting an integrated set of technology solutions that simplify both the user experience and the technology footprint. This role will liaise with both Yale University and YNHHS IT leaders to develop shared strategies and leverage common solutions. This will include plans for, as appropriate, aligning or migrating software solutions to deliver the optimal experience for patients, providers, trainees, administrators, and other stakeholders internal and external to the health sciences enterprise.

The Director of Health Software Solutions & Engineering will ensure that operational and project initiatives are aligned as to timeframes and communications and will maintain an integrated view of overall project costs and allocations. Impacts and risks will be cross university, involve partnerships with YNHHS, and be politically sensitive with significant time constraints.
