Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Engineering Laboratory Technician to supervise, maintain, and ensure safe operation of all equipment supporting the School of Engineering’s courses and research initiatives. This includes a wide range of laboratories supporting Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, and Software Engineering and Computer Science.

The successful candidate will be required to understand, operate, setup and maintain a variety of equipment (robotic, computer, electrical, mechanical, analytical, simulation, etc.); manage laboratory inventories and documentation; and provide technical support for class and research projects. The successful candidate will work alongside faculty and staff in the school to support students in a wide range of activities and ensure laboratory and shop safety.

Ensure safe operation of all equipment
Ensure maintenance of all laboratory equipment
Ensure that safety and maintenance standards and procedures are established and followed for laboratory areas
Maintain all MSDS Sheets and other required documentation laboratory areas
Establish and present equipment safety training/briefing programs for students and faculty in laboratory areas
Support courses with setup, take down, inventory, and other relevant areas in laboratory areas
Provide technical advice and assistance to students and faculty in laboratory areas
Provide programming, diagnostic, and interface support in the areas of Electronics, Robotics, and Mechatronics
Assist department in the development of new laboratory facilities and equipment selection
Supervise work study students
Support technical staff as appropriate

Qualifications: Experience with developing and leading programs to train individuals in the safe and effective use of equipment 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or clear demonstration of this potential Experience in PLC and robotics programming Experience maintaining, operating, and setting-up a wide range of equipment Ability to adapt to, complete, and prioritize a wide range of tasks from multiple sources Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and/or a commitment to diversity and inclusion Preferred Qualifications: Formal teaching experience is desirable Experience with networking equipment Experience with machine shop equipment
Bachelor’s degree in technical field related to position A minimum of 5 years of professional experience may substituted for the above education requirement
About the School of Engineering: The School of Engineering is one of the nine academic units of Quinnipiac University. The School offers 6 undergraduate degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Software Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science.
