The Instructional Designer inspires faculty and other constituents to employ innovative and engaging course design and delivery techniques that will improve learning outcomes and student experiences. This includes collaborative design, development, and revision of online, hybrid, and web-supplemented courses that serve the 21st-century learner while maintaining a strong commitment to the Saint Rose Mission. The Instructional Designer provides pedagogical training and support for faculty and provides a guiding vision for achieving quality excellence.
1.Apply research and theory in teaching, learning, and assessment to the analysis, design, development, delivery, evaluation, and revision of online, hybrid, and web-supplemented courses.
2.Develop instructional strategies that use technology, such as multimedia systems, web-based tools, course management systems, and e-portfolio systems, to support effective and engaging pedagogy/andragogy.
3.Coordinate online course development projects. Identify project goals, timelines, and resource needs including professional development. Provide regular progress updates and tracking. Evaluate outputs according to established standards. Ensure proper storage and revision of master courses within the LMS.
4.Design and deliver multi-modal training, professional development on technical and pedagogical topics that are relevant to institutional priorities and online delivery.
5.Contribute to the technical administration of academic systems, such as the LMS, assessment platform, and multimedia tools, including day-to-day monitoring, issue resolution, functionality testing, and upgrade/strategic planning.
6.Collect and analyze the academic technology needs of the campus community. Monitor user perceptions of current systems, research new/innovative technological options, and make recommendations for strategic planning.
7.Form collaborative and professional relationships with internal and external constituencies (faculty, administrators, committees, peer institutions, vendors, etc.) that support the institutional mission and strategic plan.
8.Follow relevant policies, laws, and best practices relating to legal, regulatory, and ethical matters, such as intellectual property, copyright, ADA, and FERPA.
9.Other duties as assigned.
