The Instructional Support Consultant works closely with students and faculty to promote and advance the appropriate use of technology across the university, especially in the curriculum. This will be accomplished via the development and delivery of technical training, conducting individual consultations, needs assessments, and training sessions as well as research to investigate new technologies and software. This individual assists students and faculty with the appropriate use of academic technologies including but not limited to Brightspace, Anthology Portfolio, and Office 365.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and delivers training (group, 1 to 1, on-line) on various academic technologies for students. Also develops facilitator guides, student guides, handouts as necessary.

Provides technical consultation to students and faculty as needed. Assist students and faculty with Brightspace user and technical issues as needed. Assist Instructional Support Consultants with Brightspace technical support when needed.

Maintain instructional support portal site.

Maintain instructional support documentation repository in OneNote.

Develop student facing academic technology training program.

Provide initial support for walk-ins requesting help.

Foster positive working relationships with students and faculty to promote technology and instructional support.

Manage work study students including training and scheduling.

Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Perform academic technology needs assessments.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Job duties and responsibilities can change at any time, with or without notice.

Minimum Qualifications:

Years of relevant or specific experience: Two to four years’ experience in the development and delivery of training in a corporate or academic environment.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Teaching or training experience in higher education is desirable.

Academic Degree(s) and/ areas of study: Bachelor’s degree

Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: Yes
Master’s preferred.
