The Online Course Design Specialist will work as a part of a team to design, develop, deliver and support online and blended courses and programs at UMass Lowell’s Division of Graduate, Online and Professional Studies. This includes collaborating with and supporting faculty in the design, development, launch, and on-going support of online courses. S/he will facilitate the online course development process, conduct course quality reviews, provide recommendations for course improvement, and promote good practices of teaching and learning with technology.
The primary functions of the Online Course Design Specialist are to provide instructional design consultation, training, and on-going support to faculty who are developing and teaching online courses.
S/he is responsible for the development and delivery of on-site and online training, workshops, and facilitating a course development process for faculty developing online, blended, and virtual courses.
Partner with faculty to implement best practices in online course design and teaching.
Provide technical and instructional support to faculty teaching online, blended and virtual courses.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Experience:
5 years of experience training faculty members to teach online and providing instructional design consultations
5 years of experience supporting the design and development of online courses
Experience with a variety of learning technologies, including learning management systems, Zoom, multimedia development tools, and lecture capture tools
Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of a modern learning management system, including the instructor and administrator roles
Demonstrated technical skills with regards to troubleshooting and resolving tech issues and challenges
Demonstrated experience conducting technical trainings, presenting to groups, and facilitating discussions with faculty
Education:
Master’s Degree in a related field

Formal education/certification in instructional and course design
Online teaching experience
