Reporting to the Director of Online Education & Information Technology, the YSS Online Education Manager will collaborate with Yale faculty, staff, and subject matter experts to develop and maintain high quality digital learning materials, assessments and courses in accordance with learning objectives. The Manager will leverage best practices of instructional design and the latest educational technologies to create interactive and exceptional courses and content. This position will also be instrumental in course delivery, providing the necessary administrative and pedagogical support required to maintain course quality. In addition, the YSS Online Education Manager will research academic innovation for the continued improvement, success, and diversification of program offerings.

Key Responsibilities: Design and develop highly effective online courses, content, and related digital media based on current and emerging best practices and technologies, and in collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts. Consult with faculty, provide ongoing guidance and support in the creation of online course content and delivery. Primary provider of administrative and technical support for course preparation and delivery Research, test and implement administrative and learning technologies. Maintain currency of best instructional practices, technologies, and resources for online learning and communicate these to faculty. Conduct program evaluation of teaching methods, student assessment, and technology; implement improvements as appropriate. Design and execute web-based / multi-media projects related to program operation. Recruit and manage a team of online course support student workers and proctors in the summer. Create and maintain operational documentation. Attend meetings and participate on committees as necessary. Maintain a high standard of professionalism in representing the University including confidentiality in all aspects of the position’s responsibilities and adherence to policies, procedures, and other established guidelines as appropriate. Adhere to professional accountability and accept responsibility for managing situations and problems. Work cooperatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively to the achievement of team and College objectives and provide a high level of service to customers by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships.

Required Skill/Ability 1: :
Comprehensive knowledge of instructional theory, online course design and pedagogy as well as assessment.
Required Skill/Ability 2: :
Proficiency with learning management systems and web-based collaborative tools. Demonstrated ability with streaming video, screen casting production and content authoring tools.
Required Skill/Ability 3: :
Ability to work independently or within a collaborative environment.
Required Skill/Ability 4: :
Excellent project management and problem solving skills.
Required Skill/Ability 5: :
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and three years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
