Simmons University is looking for an Instructional Designer to join the Simmons Academic Systems team. Reporting to the Manager of Academic Support Systems, the Instructional Designer will work collaboratively with Simmons faculty, staff, team members, and students to design and develop technology-based educational materials that enhance student learning and in alignment with the University’s vision.

Working with faculty and teaching staff, the Instructional Designer will provide pedagogical consultation, instructional design support, and software instruction needed to develop successful and effective face-to-face, hybrid /blended, online, and technology-enhanced courses.

Responsibilities:

-Lead instructional design projects including conducting needs assessments, identifying course learning goals, developing implementation strategy, etc.
-Collaborate with faculty in aligning eLearning tools and technologies with learning objectives, providing support and recommending appropriate tools, media and teaching strategies
-Develop, deliver, and maintain multimodal resources, trainings, and workshops for faculty professional development
-Provide exceptional customer service and in-depth support on instructional strategies/course design across all modalities
-Maintain currency on best practices and emerging trends in instructional design, actively participating in the editorial process and incorporating best practices into daily work
-Assist with the development and writing of grant proposals and with identifying extramural sources of funding for activities related to hybrid/blended learning, online learning, and learning technologies

-Three (3) years of professional experience in instructional design, online learning, instructional technologies, and training design and facilitation, preferably in a higher education setting -Working knowledge of online pedagogy and facilitation -Proficient in developing content in learning management systems -Strong presentation design and facilitation skills for technical trainings and workshops -Experienced in planning and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced working environment -Proficiency in customer support, client communications, and building relationships with faculty and subject matter experts -Competency in quickly mastering new and emerging tools and technologies -Excellent verbal and written communication skills
