Harvard University is looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to be responsible for the capture, analysis, and documentation of user and system requirements to inform the design of Harvard University’s digital preservation repository (DRS).

The DRS Modernization project is a multi-year effort to revitalize infrastructure and services preserving Harvard's digital scholarly resources and institutional records for future use by faculty, students, administrators, and staff, furthering the University's research, teaching, and learning mission and safeguarding its legacy. The project is an intense collaborative effort orchestrated across the Harvard Library, school libraries, and commercial vendors, and/or open-source development partners.

The Senior BSA is a flexible, team-focused, organized person with a track record of successfully eliciting and communicating user and system requirements in a complex and demanding stakeholder environment. The Senior BSA reports to the Manager, Project and Portfolio Management in Library Technology Services and is part of a team of analysts, change managers, and technologists assembled specifically for the DRS Modernization project. On this project, the Senior BSA works closely with the Harvard Library Head of Digital Preservation, key stakeholders in Harvard Library and schools, and the effort’s project manager and digital repository architect. The person in this role is expected to quickly demonstrate a high degree of familiarity with digital preservation priorities and workflows.

Harvard’s Library Technology Services team resides within Harvard University Information Technology, and builds, implements, and stewards solutions to fulfill the mission of the Harvard Library: to advance scholarship and teaching through the collection, creation, application, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge.
This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through June 30, 2025. There is the possibility of renewal contingent on funding, University priorities, and satisfactory job performance.

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills (The following Additional Qualifications are strongly preferred. If you meet some, but not all, you are still encouraged to apply; we value employees with a willingness to learn.):
- Experience leading user outreach, analysis, and gathering of requirements to support the design of large-scale technology-driven services systems in academic or research libraries or archives preferred
- Knowledge of digital preservation practices, goals, and workflows, as well as of the systems used to support the domain preferred
- Strong consulting skills and adeptness at working across multiple stakeholder groups to ensure collaboration and partnership
- Demonstrated experience in organizing and articulating relationships between multiple complex IT systems
- Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
- Solid understanding and demonstrated use of iterative development practices (preferably Agile) desired
- Demonstrated organizational skills, especially with the ability to manage and track many details and facts and understand how each detail fits into the "big picture"
- Adept at articulating, measuring, and communicating risks and opportunities
