Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, operations and security of the enterprise administrative and academic information systems, including physical and virtual server infrastructure, data storage, various on-premises, and cloud-based applications, monitoring and disaster recovery utilities. The position collaborates with other members of the Enterprise Systems group to implement system provisioning and maintenance practices that are consistent with the College’s goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Within the scope of the responsibilities, the Systems Administrator will install, configure and maintain physical and virtual servers, server operating systems, networked data storage, and various on-premises and cloud-based applications; create, schedule and maintain necessary automated system jobs; manage user accounts, permissions and access rights in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance; diagnose and resolve problems and concerns associated with implemented information systems; maintain disaster recovery systems and develop procedures to ensure reliability and availability of institutional data resources; develop and update operational, procedural and informational documentation for enterprise information systems, implemented security measures and disaster recovery procedures.

The System Administrator will also implement, maintain, and update security measures to ensure the integrity of institutional data resources and prevent unauthorized access to data and networked systems. The position will work and partner with all members of the ITS department to be responsive to the needs of users, address escalated issue reports, and participate in other projects as needed.

Minimum of four years of proven positive work experience managing Windows and Linux server environments, Storage Area Networks, and Active Directory or other LDAP based services. The selected candidate must demonstrate extensive knowledge of server virtualization technologies (i.e. VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc.) and proficiency in task automation scripting (Powershell, Unix Shell, etc.). Familiarity with college/university Enterprise Resource Planning platform (such as Ellucian Colleague, Banner, Oracle Peoplesoft) is desirable. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience working in a service-oriented environment, demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working both with a team and independently.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Science or related field.
