Lesley University seeks a Social Media Specialist to join the Office of Communications and Marketing. As a member of the team, the Social Media Specialist will be responsible for a stream of multimedia content generation for Lesley’s primary social media channels and continued growth of the university’s social media presence for both organic and paid strategies.

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for supporting the Marketing and Communication function in the execution of a holistic social media communications strategy that infuses the university’s brand narrative in all social media communications and increases Lesley’s profile and engagement with prospective students, current students, employees, alumni, parents, funding agencies, community partners, and other influencers on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging social media platforms. The Social Media Specialist is responsible for generating creative and innovative content, including impeccable writing and dynamic video and graphic design. The Social Media Specialist is responsible for following industry trends and supporting the growth of the university’s 62,000+ social media followers.

In close collaboration with the the Marketing and Communications team, the Social Media Specialist will build connections with academic programs, staff, student clubs and organizations, athletics, community service, and other campus constituents to support overall institutional communications, project important messaging, elevate Lesley voices and stories, and build the university’s reputation across social media.

This role sits in Marketing and Communication and will report to the Director of External Relations.

Passionate and driven multimedia content generator with 1 to 5 years of experience in professional social media communications. Experience in higher education is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and concisely.
Creative thinker who can generate compelling video and graphic design for unique organic and paid content.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with social media content creation and multimedia campaigns in a variety of formats, executing social media activities that range from routine to highly creative.
Experience with digital media and social media metrics.
Demonstrated experience in actively using social media platforms.
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines.
A proven capacity for collaboration and idea generation.
Ability to recognize threats to institutional reputation and sound judgement about reaching out and engaging others in responding.
Hard worker who moves easily among the many facets of the busy day and continuously seeks to improve systems and optimize work.
Adheres to university and departmental expectations and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree required.
