The Technical Support Specialist is an integral part of the IT support team. The successful candidate will maintain the University computer-based software images, supporting all academic and administrative systems.

Position Profile

The successful candidate will be a part of a team of dedicated IT professionals who provide onsite support to university faculty, staff and students in the day-to-day oversight and support of the instructional computer facilities and general-purpose academic computing facilities. The incumbent will be expected to perform and lead lower-level staff in the delivery of an array of services and supports in the installation and maintenance of personal computer and network software and hardware as well as in the diagnosis and resolution of problems arising from client, server, administrative and academic systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

All Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field.

Experience and Training:

Applicants must have four (4) years of professional IT experience in supporting end-users in an educational environment. Of the four (4) years, applicants must have demonstrated supervisory experience including formulating procedures as well as establishing maintaining effective working with others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Applicants must possess the knowledge of and ability to apply principles and practices of information technology including software and hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance involving both PC and Macintosh computer and operating systems. Knowledge of and experience with change management procedures and systems. Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.

Ideal Candidate

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

Advanced knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, domain architecture, server-side services, and interaction with the desktop environment.

Knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise technologies; Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365 Suite.

Proficiency with scripting languages (VBScript, PowerShell) packaging and deploying applications.
