Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, the Application Developer (AD) provides application and software planning, development, integration and support skills to the MassArt community. The AD serves as the College’s internal software developer and consultant for the development and integration of administrative and academic applications, systems, and services across the enterprise. The AD collaborates with staff, faculty and students to ensure the timely delivery of academic and administrative technology solutions and applications which adhere to budget, resource and time constraints, and align with the College’s missions, strategy and goals.

The AD has primary technical responsibility for the architecture, development, and oversight of MassArt’s website (massart.edu), including the Drupal content management system and Acquia Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and related technologies, and for the integration of the College’s portfolio of online systems, applications, databases, websites and social media apps, including the College’s ERP (Ellucian Colleague).

Experience as an application or web developer and some of the following technologies: Drupal, Wordpress, PHP, jquery, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, XML, XSLT, AJAX, SQL, MySQL, web servers (Apache, Tomcat, IIS), Perl, Ruby. Experience with web development and versioning tools (e.g. Git, Firebug, code editors, etc.) Experience with LAMP stack and/or domain administration. Demonstrated experience with some of the following: web-based content management systems, web development, application development, website usability, quality assurance/testing, blackbox/whitebox testing, user experience design, ERP systems, integration of academic, administrative and enterprise applications and systems. In addition to a high level of technical expertise and experience, the AD position requires exceptional written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams, and a commitment to professionalism and collaboration with partners inside and outside the College. Bachelor’s degree or higher
