Inclement Weather Policy
Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to establish a NERCOMP inclement weather policy for scheduled events.
Objective:
The objective of this policy is to establish guidelines by which decisions are made to postpone workshops or training events during inclement weather conditions.
Policy:
In general, NERCOMP’s practice is to remain open and to conduct business as usual during periods of inclement weather, except as noted in this policy statement. NERCOMP is concerned for the safety of attendees. As such, in consultation with the host facility, NERCOMP’s Director of Operations and Professional Development chair will make the decision to cancel or postpone workshops/training based on weather reports as provided by the National Weather Service and local weather reports.
If a decision is made to cancel or postpone training, attendees will be notified by 12 pm on the day before the event via email and website postings.
If an attendee is unable to commute safely to the training facility during periods of inclement weather they are advised to contact NERCOMP (nercomp@nercomp.org) no later than 9:00am the day of the event. Their situation will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by NERCOMP’s Director of Operations.
Presenters will be reimbursed by NERCOMP for lodging the night prior to the event, with prior approval.
