Proposal:
In this webinar, we'll explore the challenges faced by higher education institutions in supporting students who require accommodations. With the Department of Justice's recent updates to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act mandating accessible web content, it's crucial that digital course materials are equitable and accessible for all students.
Our session will focus on our institution's experience in addressing accessibility issues within the Canvas learning management system (LMS), with particular emphasis on its compatibility with screen readers. Participants will gain insights into:
1. Strategies for ensuring inclusive and accessible instructional content
2. Effective methods for overcoming common accessibility challenges
3. Our ongoing efforts to train faculty and students in navigating accessibility issues
By attending this webinar, you'll acquire practical knowledge and actionable strategies to enhance digital accessibility in your own educational setting, ensuring compliance with regulations and, more importantly, supporting the success of all students regardless of ability.
