Event Overview
Faculty are eager to understand and responsibly integrate generative AI into teaching—but how do you design training that meets faculty where they are? This interactive session highlights a proven, scalable model for AI faculty development built by a solo instructional designer at a small college. You’ll experience a live demo of the actual course, see how it was structured for flexibility and accessibility, and gain practical insights into what worked (and what didn’t) when introducing AI training across disciplines. Participants will leave with access to a public version of the course, along with adaptable templates and strategies for their own institutions.
Session Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Apply a practical, replicable model for designing AI-focused faculty training.
- Identify course design features and tools (e.g., H5P, screencasts, modular content) that engage faculty with diverse experience levels and busy schedules.
- Evaluate lessons learned about faculty readiness, engagement, and institutional challenges when rolling out AI initiatives.
- Adapt course design elements and implementation strategies for their own institutional context.
