Event Overview:
As generative AI reshapes higher education, faculty responses range from enthusiastic experimentation to thoughtful skepticism and uncertainty. How can we support faculty in navigating these changes without assuming AI adoption is the goal?
This interactive session explores practical ways to engage faculty wherever they are in their AI journey. Drawing on perspectives from faculty development, libraries, writing studies, and disciplinary teaching, presenters will share strategies for rethinking assessments, aligning learning outcomes, and creating low-stakes opportunities for exploration. Participants will identify approaches they can use to support intentional teaching decisions—whether faculty choose to teach with, around, or without AI—while keeping student learning and disciplinary values at the center.
Session Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognize different faculty perspectives on AI and identify approaches for engaging colleagues with varying levels of interest, readiness, or concern.
- Apply strategies for aligning learning outcomes, authentic disciplinary practices, and assessment design with intentional decisions about AI use.
- Develop practical approaches for supporting faculty reflection, experimentation, and informed decision-making within their own institutional contexts.
