Event Overview
With COVID-19 came the shift to more online environments across our universities introducing the need for an escalated focus on digital accessibility.
Where before some components of life were done in person, such as college visits and tech support, the pandemic has made it necessary for these activities to become increasingly online-only. With this transition came the realization that, without remediation, digital landscapes were unavailable to people with disabilities. This means that a huge demographic is unable to access information and services with the same ease as people without disabilities.
This session - which is geared towards beginner and intermediate IT and accessibility professionals - will discuss accessibility principles, explore accessibility's application to learning management systems, websites, documents, and multimedia, and suggest a plan for remediating inaccessible material.

Learning Outcomes
- Learn why digital accessibility is necessary in our vast digital environment.
- Be able to apply accessibility principles and basic remediation strategies to websites, documents, and multimedia.
