Event Overview
The NERCOMP Thought Partner Program fosters collaborative learning and discussion among members, focusing on AI in higher education. 

The rise of AI and other innovations is challenging traditional notions of education. Much like the arrival of calculators didn't erase the need for math instruction but reshaped its focus, large language model AIs are prompting educators to reconsider how and what we teach. In a world where computers can read, write, and calculate more efficiently than humans, what skills and competencies should students master to thrive?

This session invites faculty, instructional designers, and academic leaders to critically examine the evolving role of higher education in preparing learners for the future. Participants will explore the alignment between institutional goals and emerging technological capabilities through reflection, discussion, and collaboration.

Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
 - Engage in shared inquiry by hearing diverse perspectives on how AI is reshaping learning objectives across disciplines.
 - Reflect critically by evaluating their institution’s goals and learning outcomes in the context of advancing technology.
 - Analyze Redundancies by identifying overlaps between traditional learning goals and tasks better suited for computer assistance.
 - Generate Solutions by brainstorming essential competencies for students to thrive in a future shaped by AI and technological innovation.
