Event Overview
Digital Humanities projects and products are proliferating on our campuses. They are highly collaborative, often crossing campus and discipline boundaries. At the same time, research universities and liberal arts colleges are moving forward with DAM and preservation initiatives for institutional assets. Digital scholarship products can pose knotty technical and organizational challenges as we try to fit them into the broader DAM and preservation eco-system.
Food for thought: How can we form sustainable partnerships with faculty, students, and staff in implementing digital scholarship? What are best practices for policy-making in inter-institutional projects? What are the particular concerns for long-term preservation of scholarship projects that involve an array of tools and multiple formats? How do we implement rights management strategies in a participatory open source environment? What are some innovative social media approaches for building communities that thrive? What are some examples of creative collaborations (e.g., lean start ups) among library and IT staff in tool-building and system operations?
The intent of this workshop is to bring together a group of diverse players from across the digital humanities community to engage in lively discussion and problem solving. SIG workshop attendees can expect informative presentations tied into Q and A panels. Break-out participant sessions will consider case studies and share experiences around the table.
