Event Overview

What kind of training will best prepare student workers to be effective employees at a higher education IT Service Desk? Student employees play a major role in the daily operations of a Service Desk. Providing effective training to students guarantees an efficient Service Desk that provides the highest quality of service. Training student employees is also a valuable opportunity for supervisors to learn more about students and for students to get to know each other.

This workshop will discuss different training strategies for student workers, including soft skills training, technical training and team-building exercises, and the value that area type of training has for student employees. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to develop a training program, implementation strategies and ideas for evaluating the effectiveness of a training program after completion.

Attendees will hear from several professionals who conduct student employee training on a yearly and on-going basis. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to share ideas and experiences.

This workshop is a great opportunity for anyone that works with student workers or is planning to start a student worker program of their own to share ideas and gain insight about effective training exercises.
