Where Do I Go From Here: Strategies For Developing Your Career

Mark Davis
Mark is the Manager of Desktop Systems at Swarthmore College. He currently serves as a member of Swarthmore's Faculty-Staff Development Committee, Sustainability Committee and previously Equal Opportunities Committees. He has presented and led workshops on a variety of topics, including “What’s your EQ”, professional development, and team building. Mark has an AAS in Computer Information Systems, a BS in Computer Science and is pursuing a MS in Information Technology Management. He also volunteers as a technology and career trainer for a nonprofit organization and has studied emotional intelligence and the impact it can have on our ability to be effective in our careers.

Mark is passionate about technology but more importantly it is about people, partnerships, progress. He values, not only how technologies are introduced in support of teaching, learning and student success, but how we can best support people!


Aixa Pomales
Aixa is the Director of IT Support Services at Swarthmore College. In her leadership role which includes 12 FTE and 30 student employees, she values building strategic partnerships, mentoring and inspiring others through the development of goals and policies that support potential and growth. Aixa currently serves as key member of Swarthmore’s Faculty Staff Development Committee, which is tasked with planning and implementing professional development workshops and programs for the campus community.

As a former member of the diversity and inclusion committee, Aixa continues to be dedicated to providing a work environment that prioritizes fairness and respect. She has a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and enjoys reading about current trends in student success and professional development.
