Event Overview
One way or another, copyright laws govern every website, graphic, application, plugin, program, and all other tangible original works of authorship. This webinar aims to help developers, programmers, graphic designers, and other technologists know and apply their copyrights and responsibilities. What rights can employers or clients claim over your products? When is your code copyrightable in the first place? How can you know which designs are free for the taking? Isn’t open-source software the simplest solution? How can you choose the right Apache, Creative Commons, or other open license under which to release your own work? Finally, as a client or employer, how can you protect yourself from copyright liability and ensure your control over materials that you paid someone to create? Participants will leave this workshop ready to apply their newfound knowledge to make copyright laws work for their benefit and that of their organizations.

Session Outcomes
Understand core copyright expectations and restrictions.
Safeguard your rights as a contractor or client.
