Event Overview
Much like a few years ago when there was a focus on "Designing for Mobile First" when creating new websites/content, there is great value when we "Design for Vulnerable Students First". Designing digital content and online/hybrid learning experiences for our most vulnerable students creates better experiences for all students.
Please join us to explore practical, equity-minded learning design strategies (with lots of follow-up resources!) you can implement now.
Topics covered include First Impressions; Teacher Presence; Transparency; Universal Design for Learning and Accessibility; and Leading with Empathy. All are welcome; designed for faculty and staff seeking to infuse equity into all - and especially online/hybrid - learning experiences.
Learning Outcomes:
- Examine specific examples to learn equity-minded online learning design strategies including key components of a “Getting Started” section; simple design choices to write more effectively in digital environments; and the basics of accessibility in digital environments.
- Explore equity-minded online teaching/facilitation strategies such as creating instructor presence in a digital space; applying principles of transparency to materials and activities; clearly communicating purpose; leading with empathy.
Registration Cancelation Policy:
