Event Overview
This two-part workshop series equips faculty, librarians, and staff with practical tools to design, fund, and deliver meaningful academic programming and community-centered events.
Session 1: Writing Grants for Academic and Library Programming
Led by Nhora Serrano, this session offers guidance on crafting compelling grants that support innovative, library-based academic programming—especially those involving technology. Participants will receive a customizable grant template and learn strategies to align proposals with institutional goals and funder priorities.
Session 2: Planning Campus Events for Community Engagement
Led by Alex Wohnsen, this session provides a step-by-step planning framework for hosting impactful library events. Topics include collaborating with external speakers, marketing effectively, and using ticketing or registration tools to support outreach across campus and into the local community.
Together, these sessions empower participants to strengthen academic engagement and deepen college-community connections through library-centered initiatives.
Session Outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
- Develop compelling, well-structured grant proposals that align academic programming with institutional and funding priorities.
- Apply a practical planning framework to design, organize, and promote community-engaging campus events.
- Leverage templates, tools, and peer collaboration to enhance the reach, quality, and impact of library-based initiatives.
