Event Overview
Extended Reality (XR) is a spectrum of immersive technologies encompassing virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and technologies that have yet to be imagined. These technologies are reshaping how we imagine, design, and experience education. In this workshop we will examine how faculty, staff, and leadership in higher education can harness the potential of this rapidly changing technological landscape.

What can we accomplish with XR that cannot be accomplished with traditional educational modalities?
How can we design experiences that are accessible to a wide variety of audiences?
To what extent can XR replicate authentic practices that learners can master and then transfer to the real world?

Join us as we delve into the answers to these questions and collaboratively investigate how we can use XR to add value within our institutions and beyond.

Session Outcomes:
 - Describe and differentiate the spectrum of eXtended Reality (XR) technologies including VR, MR, and AR
 - Identify the affordances and limitations of XR
 - Determine how XR may add value in their specific educational domain
