Event Overview
The word 'intrusive' doesn't have to be a negative thing if done right. Faculty are familiar with advising and by taking a more deliberate approach we can use what we call "Intrusive Advising" to ensure faculty are kept informed of key resources that will make it easier for them to do their jobs in a new hybrid world.

Join librarians from Keene State College and Franklin Pierce University as they share how they have successfully practiced a form of "Intrusive Advising" with their faculty to keep them informed of library services and resources available to them. Taking a leadership role to promote resilience and guide faculty, Librarians can help mitigate frustration and burnout that many educators face due to the abrupt transition to hybrid learning and in some cases reduction in budgets brought about by the pandemic.

Learn about the process of reallocating budgets in order to accommodate increased demand from faculty for streaming videos, the importance of transparent communication with faculty members about collection decisions, and ways to provide information to faculty members about the content provided for free or at a reduced cost during the pandemic

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
- Devise ways to ‘intrusively advise’ their faculty
- Learn how to make adjustments to collection development strategies in a virtual learning environment with budget limitations
- Develop strategies to improve communication with faculty
