Event Overview
Are you barely surviving the dramatic changes in your workplace with staff no longer working together in person? Do you want to learn how to thrive by adjusting the way you communicate, lead, and build shared culture and connections?
Join Wesleyan University and Ithaca College as they share how they have embraced new approaches to work post-pandemic. With up to 70% of their IT staff either partially or fully remote, both institutions have shifted hiring practices to hire more remote workers (some who never have or will never set foot on campus). Data shows that higher education is joining the private sector in posting and hiring more remote applicants to attract and retain talent.
So, now that we've hired them, how do we engage them? Why do we struggle to define approaches that fully connect employees who are not on campus? Are remote workers less "engaged" or do we need to redefine our understanding of engagement?
Dave Weil, Ithaca's CIO, and Karen Warren, Wesleyan's Deputy CIO, will share their approaches and facilitate a discussion about how supervisors and employees are navigating the world of remote, hybrid, and in-person workers; including tips, techniques, and tools to help us all continue our journey from surviving to thriving.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
- Gather ideas about redefining staff engagement.
- Learn how two institutions are approaching this staffing model, where they have succeeded, and where they are still struggling.
- Gain strategies for approaching hybrid teams and the potential issues that can result.
