Event Overview
Librarians regularly engage with students online in fully online programs, hybrid programs, or on-campus programs that use a learning management system. Using in-person instruction methods for our digital classroom prove to be challenging and often leave both students and instructors feeling disengaged from one another. The videos or tutorials we create to foster interaction online can help, but it may be difficult to assess whether they are meeting students’ learning needs. This two-part workshop will explore how librarians can use active learning strategies effectively in an online learning environment and better build authentic connections with students.

Session Outcomes:
 - Identify strategies for incorporating active learning into online teaching.
 - Articulate design and accessibility best practices for creating online content.
 - Develop a plan to effectively engage students in an online environment.
