Event Overview
Is applying rubrics for online course design a challenge for you? Of course, it is! It is easy to find rubrics to guide online course design, and most of us are required to use one such rubric. But boy, is it hard to put into action all that they require. 

Join us to learn how User Experience Design (UXD) principles can help make sure the interface students find in our courses supports learning and avoids frustrating learners.

In this two-session workshop, participants will explore an online course module in Canvas. The module is set up with a very bad user experience (UX) allowing participants to identify the UXD deficiencies, discuss remedies, and connect these rules of thumb to course design rubrics. This exercise will enable the participants to learn some useful concepts from UXD, information architecture, and visual design theory.

Session Outcomes:
Participants will:
 - Define UXD and list some key concepts from UXD, information architecture, and visual design
 - Find it easier to use online course rubrics to plan, build, and revise online courses for a better user experience (UX)
