Event Overview
Unconscious bias starts with you and me - we all have them. And unconscious bias at work has profound implications - when we make decisions around promotions, job hiring, whose ideas we listen to, etc. Sometimes we don't even know that we have these biases, which makes it even more difficult to address and can contribute to a hostile and unhealthy workplace environment.

Join us as we introduce unconscious (or “implicit”) bias with the goal of reducing its impact, especially in workplace environments. Through presentations and engaging discussions, attendees will learn how unconscious bias impacts individuals and groups in workplaces, how unconscious bias is created and perpetuated, and what one can do to combat one’s own biases.

Session Outcomes:

Participants will:
 - Attendees will be able to define unconscious bias and how biases are created and reinforced.
 - Attendees will be able to identify some common biases and how they impact individual and collective experience in the workplace.
 - Attendees will leave with some personal and professional strategies and tools to combat unconscious bias and/or mitigate its impact.
