Event Overview

IPad, Android and Windows tablets (some consider Chrome Books as well) have taken classrooms by storm, these tools are emerging as the mobile device choice among our current, and future, student body. As academics, technologists and institutional leaders, we are trying to meet student demands, manage faculty expectations and work within our own fiscal and staffing constraints. Finding the right tablet for our institutions can be daunting and a source of frustration for the decision makers. The frustration arises as we try to balance each stakeholder’s request and work within resource limitations. This session will look at how tablets are being used at peer institutions, best practices for use, and how both IT and faculty are working collaboratively to answer the question “Which tablet should we use, and why?”.

Outcome
- Understand the current landscape technological needs and wants from incoming students
- Review the differences of which tablet can be used for educational applications
- Tips for effective implementations from peer institutions
- An in-depth review of a successful collaboration between faculty and I.T.
