Event Overview
The web is disrupting the tripartite mission of the university to create, disseminate, and archiving search. All universities need to have a good strategy for how build their web infrastructure. This session will introduce you to Yale’s DevOps based approach of leveraging Open-Source software and cloud computing infrastructure to support members of the university community. Allowing students and faculty to focus on telling the story of their research instead of being lost in a technological labyrinth.
Who Should Attend: Anybody who is interested in learning how Yale supports thousands of individual websites with a small centralized staff in a decentralized university on a budget.
Session Outcomes:

You will learn how to ensure your web infrastructure remains reliable and secure and how to help ensure visual identity guidelines are met. You will be introduced to the different portions of the technology stack (including Version Control, Continuous Integration, Containerization of Hosting, Content Delivery Networks, and APIs in Web Publishing) and the various roles and responsibilities that make up a good web team (including User Experience Designer, Front End Engineer, CMS Developer, System Administrator, Project Manager, and Information Architect.
