Event Overview
This session will provide an overview of the importance of pre-project planning that establishes a strong project foundation and methodology that sets the path for a successful implementation. We will review the pre-planning tasks that Suffolk undertook prior to beginning their implementation. These tasks along with the foundational project methodology guided and prepared the team to successfully achieve each milestone. In addition, this course will also include the opportunity for a Q&A session for participants.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the critical pre-work objectives and tasks to allow for a smooth Workday implementation that sets the path for the project to stay on-schedule and on-track
- Gather lessons learned along the way that challenged a successful project execution and the importance of a strong organizational change management and training plan
- Obtain key insights into tips and tricks to help navigate the ever-challenging environment of a system implementation while still ensuring day-to-day operations of your organization are not impacted
Michelle Quinlan
Michelle serves as the Vice President of Finance at Suffolk University where she leads Budget and Strategic Financial Planning, General Accounting and Bursar’s organizations, and Financial Reporting. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Bentley University. Michelle has over 23 years of experience working in higher education and non-profit industries. In addition to her current role, Michelle has held a variety of finance and leadership roles at Harvard University and Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and has led or supported multiple budget and/or financial system implementations. Most recently, Michelle successfully led the Workday Financials implementation at Suffolk University serving as the Project Sponsor. Presently, she is the Executive Sponsor of the Workday Adaptive implementation that is scheduled to go-live in the fall, and serves as a Project Advisor on the Workday Student Project Implementation Team.
Frank Abbondanza
Frank Abbondanza is a Senior Manger within the Financials practice at Collaborative Solutions, currently serving as Functional Architect for Financials implementations helping customers strategically design their Foundation Data Model and align cross-functional requirements to develop an efficient and valuable system. Frank has been with Collaborative for 3 years and working in the ecosystem for 6 years, working across every functional area within the Financials module. During his time involved with Workday, Frank has successfully implemented Financials for over a dozen customers, as well as provide oversight across many more. Frank specializes in Higher Education customers, having worked on 9 implementations directly coming from a variety of legacy systems and classifications, from local community colleges to large, private universities.
