Ray Frohlich is the Director of Client Services and IT Operations for Yale University Library, where he leads an IT organization supporting research, teaching, and cultural heritage work. His 25-year career spans the intersection of libraries and technology, with roles at New York University, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and Yale's Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library before moving into broader library IT leadership. Ray's work focuses on human-centered technology leadership through clear governance, strategic planning, and genuine partnership across technical and academic communities.
Ray currently serves as Co-Chair of NERCOMP's Leadership Ecosystem Committee and as Yale's Institutional Representative to NERCOMP. He contributed to developing NERCOMP's Mentorship Program and chairs Yale's annual IT conference. He also serves as a proposal reviewer for EDUCAUSE and peer reviewer for Information Technology and Libraries (ITAL). Ray holds degrees from NYU and completed leadership programs at Harvard Business School and Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Outside of work, Ray enjoys supporting his children in musical theater and swimming, mentoring as a Yale College advisor and Boy Scout Scoutmaster, and making homemade jams with his family. Whether at home, at Yale, or through NERCOMP, Ray is energized by supporting the people and communities he serves.
