Laura Quilter
Laura Quilter is the copyright and information policy librarian/attorney at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She works with the UMass Amherst community on copyright and related matters, equipping faculty, students, and staff with the understanding they need to navigate copyright, fair use, open access, publishing, and related issues. Laura maintains a teaching appointment at Simmons College School of Library & Information Science and the UMass Legal Studies Dept., and has previously taught at UC Berkeley School of Law with the Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic. She holds an MSLIS degree (1993, U. of Kentucky) and a JD (2003, UC Berkeley School of Law). Laura is a frequent speaker, who has taught and lectured to a wide variety of audiences. Her research interests are the intersection of copyright with intellectual freedom and access to knowledge, and more generally the public interest within technology and information law.


Michael Rodriguez
Michael Rodriguez is the Licensing/Acquisitions Librarian at the University of Connecticut, where he leads contracts and procurement for library collections and services, serves on the scholarly communication and collection steering committees, and oversees the library's user authentication solution. Michael holds a Master of Science in Library & Information Studies from Florida State University. In his previous position as E-Learning Librarian at Hodges University in Florida, Michael managed a platform change and redesign of the library’s website and concurrently ran social media for the national Library and Information Technology Association (LITA). Michael has taught twelve webinars and workshops on copyright-related topics for libraries and nonprofit agencies, as well as presenting at various state, regional, and national conferences on copyright and contracting. His professional interests include copyright, licensing, negotiation, and project and resource management.
