Getting Started With Virtual Reality - Webinar

Johannes Deyoung
Johannes is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in experimental animation and time-based media. He received his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2006. His exhibitions include the B3 Biennale of the Moving Image, Frankfurt, Germany; Crush Curatorial, Robert Miller Gallery, Jeff Bailey Gallery, Eyebeam, and Tiger Strikes Asteroid, New York, NY; the Images Festival at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada; Pallas Projects, Dublin, Ireland; and Hell Gallery, Melbourne, Australia. Johannes currently teaches courses in animation and moving-image production at Yale University School of Art, where he is appointed Senior Critic and Director of the Center for Collaborative Arts and Media, and at the Yale School of Drama, where he is appointed Lecturer in Design. He serves on the Computing and the Arts Academic Advisory Committee, the Center for Teaching and Learning Advisory Board, and the Digital Humanities Working Group at Yale University, the Massive Collaborative Animation Projects Steering Committee, and the Curatorial Advisory Board for ArtSpace New Haven.


John Harford
More than a decade ago, John began his higher education technology career at Columbia Business School with a focus on video production and standing up video streaming solutions. His scope grew into managing more complex production projects, along with identifying and supporting a wide range of instruction technology and media services. As demand grew for online lecture content, he promoted and developed strategies for successful adoption of course capture software. Having finished a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Media at Columbia University, John now works at the Yale Center for Teaching and Learning as the Communication and Collaboration Technologies Manager, developing services focused on multi-way videoconferencing, digital media capture and streaming, data collaboration, web-conferencing and web-casting, and real-time distributed collaboration and distance learning environments.

 

Randall Rode
Randall is a member of Yale University’s Information Technology Services team, charged with assisting faculty, staff and student leaders across Yale departments, schools and centers with emerging technology needs and projects.  Recent projects include working with the VP for Student Affairs to implement a campus-wide student life platform for undergraduate, graduate and professional school students;  Initiating and leading a partnership with HP to fund a multi-year applied research project on educational uses of 3D fabrication, virtual reality and immersive computing technologies (http://blendedreality.yale.edu);  And building a campus partnership during spring 2018 to sponsor Yale’s first hackathon utilizing mixed reality technologies with a theme of global climate change.
