Discovering Project Management: A Guide for Beginners

Pat Coogan

Pat Coogan is a project manager with the College of the Holy Cross Information Technology Services.  Her activities include managing the implementation of a new LMS, updating project documentation, and participating in the cloud and managed services transitions. Before coming to Holy Cross Pat was an Assistant Project Manager in the IT Project and Portfolio Management Office at Dartmouth College. Her work included managing the introduction of enterprise-wide video conferencing, LMS evaluation and implementation, accessibility projects, and student e-portfolio provisioning. She has completed ITIL Foundations Certification. 

While with the University System of NH Pat’s academic affairs administration experience included curriculum development, regional accreditation reporting, and IRB leadership. She was an adjunct faculty in management for over 20 years.  She earned a BS from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst;  an MS from Syracuse University, and an MBA from Boston College. 



Susan Zaslaw

Susan Zaslaw is currently a Strategic IT Consultant in the Office of Information Technology at Princeton University. In this role, she advises campus departments on the strategic and effective use of technology to achieve their business objectives. She leads departmental IT assessments and strategic IT planning efforts oversees business case development and project management for strategic projects, facilitates technology-enabled process improvement initiatives, and delivers methodologies, tools, and training on managing projects and improving processes.

Prior to Princeton, Susan was the Director of the IT Project and Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where she worked for 24 years. She received her PMP certification in 2011 and a PBA certification in 2019. She also holds ITIL certifications in Service Management, and Release Control and Validation. She has a BA from Norwich University in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis in Business and Management.
