10:30am - 10:45am Break

10:45am – 12:00pm 3d printing on campus
Speaker: Ian Roy, Research Technology Project Lead, Brandeis University

Maker Spaces don't succeed unless the type of technologies and projects they support align with the values of the local community. Tapping into this local flavor is essential for launching a MakerSpace on any campus. Front facing spaces, both physical and for digital intake, are also important for spreading the infectious attitude of tinkering and iteration.

12:00pm – 1:00pm Lunch

1:00pm – 2:00pm 3d Printing at the Yale School of Architecture
Speaker: John Eberhart, Director of Digital Media, Yale School of Architecture

Hear how we went from 50 3d prints a year on 4 expensive 3d printers, to over 5,000 3d prints a year on 30 inexpensive 3d printers. I will speak on how we manage these 30 3d printers, how we developed an in-house print submission and queue management system. I will also discuss how this change impacted the role of 3d printing in our students’ design process, and how we have effectively folded 3d printing into our design and fabrication curriculum.

2:00pm – 3:00pm Putting it All Together
