10:30am - 11:30am Case Study: Brandeis
Speaker: Tim O’Neil, Director for Academic Media Technology, Brandeis University

Brandeis will discuss aspects of a recent, 300 seat lecture hall renovation project that present an opportunity to consider multiple phases of a large project, including: requirements gathering, constituent input, product selection and system design, the bidding process, general contractor and trades interaction, construction related challenges, system commissioning and user training.

11:30am - 12:00pm Case Study: MIT
Speaker: Elaine Mello, Distance Education & Streaming Operations Manager, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

MIT will discuss issues regarding design projects for different spaces (TEAL, distance classrooms/lecture capture in registrar spaces), and how working with internal groups can affect design/process/outcomes and final deliverables for end users. Also, discussed will be challenges in design/build projects and focusing on end user needs versus architectural vision of spaces on campus.

Speaker: Jesse Anderson, Audio-Visual Services Manager, College of the Holy Cross

Holy Cross will discuss some features they have included in newer active learning environments including wireless connectivity for Tablets, classroom design without any fixed computer, and successful implementation of whiteboard paint. They will also discuss how, in the right setting, a rapid prototyping model can be applied when implementing classroom technology.
