Michael Gioia

Michael Gioia is an information security leader with over 18 years of experience delivering security solutions across several industries. He has served as an officer in the United States Air Force and worked in higher education, the Department of Defense, retail food services, and security consulting. He has performed most of his information security work within higher education, currently, as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Babson College and formerly as the Information Security Officer (ISO) at Eastern Illinois University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Bentley University. He retains various professional certifications that include a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) from ISACA, Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) from ISC2, GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC) from SANS, and Payment Card Industry Professional (PCIP) from the PCI Security Standards Council.



Steve Maresca, Vancord

Steven is the current lead for the vISO practice within Vancord. Steven has 10+ years of information security experience, designing and developing security solutions at a large public university. A recognized leader in the virtualization space, he founded a TBNG sister company, Zentific, which is a software security firm specializing in virtual machine introspection. He was the engineering lead for a DARPA Cyber Fast Track grant awarded to Zentific, resulting in pending patent applications. While attending the University of Connecticut, he participated in security research and publications. He
specializes in forensics, incident response, vulnerability assessment, secure software development, identity management, and PCI compliance.

Jason Pufhal, Vancord

Jason has 25 years of infrastructure and information security experience and has spent the last 20 years dedicated to information security and privacy. He has a Master’s in Education Technology, holds numerous industry certifications, and frequently speaks on topics related to information security technology and awareness. He has worked in both the public and private sectors and has been for all aspects of information security encompassing risk management, disaster recovery, identity management, security policy, and regulatory compliance, security analytics, security awareness andtraining, and technical controls implementation.

Hector Rodriguez

Hector Rodriguez is an experienced solution strategist, technologist, and Chief Information Security Officer.  Hector has 35+ years of experience working with organizations across multiple industries (Education, Healthcare, and Financial Services) to leverage modern technology as an innovative and transformative catalyst that accelerates the ability to live their mission.  Hector works with organizations to enable a secure, private, and compliant cloud-driven transformation that is resilient to cyber threats and disasters while continuously improving their security posture.

Hector is a senior speaker, moderator, and facilitator for AWS security events, including tabletop exercises, for global audiences. Hector speaks at corporate executive briefings, conferences, and industry events on topics such as “Modern Disaster Recovery and Ransomware Mitigation”, “Blockchain”, “Modern Digital Transformation” and “Internet of Things (IoT)”.  Hector is a cybersecurity curriculum advisor and participates in government and industry regulatory and compliance groups.  Hector began his career as a software engineer at Bell Research Laboratories. Hector has an M.B.A. in Management Finance and Entrepreneurship and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
