Event Overview
What is a commons? How does it differ from a traditional market-based approach to providing a service or resource? How does one build and sustain a commons through system-level collective action? What are examples of commons-based approaches to delivering library (and other) services that exist or are in the process of being designed. This workshop will provide an introduction to the idea of a commons, and provide frameworks and tools for those interested in exploring this approach to designing and building services.

Session Outcomes:
 - Learn how a commons-based approach is different from a market-based approach to developing and delivering a service or resources.
 - Learn strategies for building and sustaining a commons, with a focus on governance and collective action.
 - Learn a set of current and planned commons, and understand opportunities for how to both learn from these examples, and to participate in these efforts.
