Speaker: Melissa Beecher

Melissa Beecher is the University Social Media Manager at Boston College. Managing new and emerging media for the Office of News & Public Affairs, Beecher develops social media strategy in collaboration with senior managers. Co-founder of the Boston College Social Media Council, Beecher moderates informational sessions of more than 50 practitioners across campus and provides educational classes for employees who represent the University through social media. Beecher oversees all official Boston College channels, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest, Google+, LinkedIn, BC’s first mobile tour “Tour of the Heights,” the Boston College app and BC Social, a convergence site for University social media. Prior to joining BC in 2007, Beecher worked as a journalist in the Greater Boston area. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Boston University.
